$1.6 Million in Federal support for Antigonish Active Transportation

Big news for Antigonish!

Today I had the chance to announce over $1.6M of federal funding to establish a new active transportation trail system which will run through the heart of the Town of Antigonish and connect with existing and future active transportation pathways in the community.

Projects like this create jobs at home, promote active living, help reduce emissions, and will make the community a more vibrant and dynamic place to live and work.

The project will include new active transportation links from the 104 along West St. and St. Ninian St., and will include new accessible trails through green spaces that will connect the Town to the Landing through Columbus Field.

The Province of Nova Scotia is contributing over $1.3 Million to the project and the Municipality is contributing more than $1 Million as well. I want to thank Randy Delorey, and Mayor Laurie Boucher for their leadership and advocacy in helping make this project a reality.

I'm thrilled to see this important project go ahead and can’t wait to get out on these new pathways.

Happy trails!
